This is an update to my article on the 14th November 2024 where I announced that Heathrow Airport had submitted a planning application 41573/APP/2024/2838 to include the creation of a new ‘hold area’ at the western end of the northern runway, plus the construction of new access and exit taxiways.
The question is just how will this affect every resident in Stanwell Moor?
Well here is the frightening reality and it is not stretching the imagination to say this.
It will not only impact on our health and wellbeing, – It will devastate our community and our quality of life.
WHY?
More noise, new noise, more aircraft. While various reports and figures say that our village has 36 landings per day and while those of us in the know (our residents) would argue this – for this sake of this piece let’s accept this.
Simple maths – We are about to experience a (10-FOLD-INCREASE) in aircraft noise, aircraft pollution and yet at this point Heathrow has still NOT compensated us for the hundreds of take-offs and landings that our residents experience every single day and Stanwell Moor deserves!
More than ever our residents need the security that is being offered to other communities. Some who do not have anything near the airport blight that the most airport-blighted village suffers, some have never been affected by the airport at all.
John Holland-Kaye recognised our campaign, recognised how Heathrow impacts on the health and wellbeing of our residents. HAL directors ‘promised us’ we would be in the WPOZ then reneged on this.
Their get-out-clause?
The reason Heathrow Airport cited that stopped us from being included within the Wider Property Offer Zone (WPOZ) was that we were not affected by ‘new noise’.
Should this taxiway be allowed then we are about to know more blight and more “new noise” than we have ever known in the history of our village.
We are about to realise “NEW NOISE” on a massive scale, and I call on Heathrow Airport to do the right thing. Their excuse now holds no water, it does not have a leg to stand on and if they have any moral-compass at all they now need to grant us the world-beating compensation they promise and have afforded much less blighted areas.
The compensation of being included within the WPOZ, or an agreement that residents will be able to sell their homes to Heathrow and move away from the area and for those who stay the assurance that they too at some point in the future can sell to Heathrow at 25% over market value.
That is what I continue to fight for and what I want to deliver for every resident.
