LETTER OF REJECTION FROM STANWELL MOOR RESIDENTS

Dear Sarah Jane Pickford,

Initially when I heard of these so-called community groups I thought it is only right that HAL consults on its expansion and compensation plans. However when there was the suggestion that Stanwell Moor should be considered to have the same blight as Stanwell and you intended to include us as a single community group I was instantly against it as our two communities suffer very differently.

I put this to our residents and they rejected the idea of such a proposal!

Accordingly, I advised residents NOT to attend any meetings in Stanwell that we required meetings in our Village Hall. While this proved to be the case and our residents DID NOT ATTEND on the 6th of July, I believe two people may not have received notice in time.

Today I am advising you that Stanwell Moor residents WILL NOT attend this or any meeting where we are twinned with Stanwell and I will be reaching out to one of these individuals to remind them if they attend, they will  do so against the will of the majority of our residents.

What rationale did HAL think they could group these two villages together? It should never have been a consideration ‘in the first place’ given they are so distinctly different.

Stanwell is affected in the main by taxiing aircraft and this cannot be compared to Stanwell Moor where residents live directly under a flight path and suffer horrendous aircraft noise from overflying aircraft and aircraft fuel pollution.

The 3rd runway also affects Stanwell minimally whereas it will impact us more so. This is before factoring in changes to the use of existing runways and associated construction that will devastate our village to a point where ‘for many’ it will become unliveable.

The general consensus is that this is a cynical attempt by HAL to try to dilute our legitimate claim for long-awaited compensation and our campaign to be included within the WPOZ.

This is to inform you our village is united on this and we require meetings between HAL and a “Stanwell Moor Neighbourhood Group” to be held in our Village Hall, ‘exclusively’ for Stanwell Moor residents, to consult on and deal with Stanwell Moor issues.

I look forward to your reply at your earliest convenience.

Kind regards,
Jim.
