20TH MARCH 2025

Hi All,

Following my Conversation with Matt Furniss, Cabinet Member for Highways at Surrey County Council last Friday where it was agreed these chargers would NOT go ahead. My first job as your acting Chairman was a visit to Benen-Stock today to ensure the Charger debacle is no more.

I spoke to the contractors on-site at 11:45am regarding what they had been instructed to do and the bottom line is, they are making good.

For full disclosure; When I spoke to Matt he confirmed the chargers that were due to go in were only 7kw and not ultra-fast commercial chargers, so there wasn’t any chance of taxi drivers using them as they would take 12-hours to charge. That said anything that encourages Heathrow bound cabs or holiday parkers are not welcome in our village!

While he agreed to cap the site, he did say the services would be there but hidden should residents change their minds, I suggested that’s NOT likely to happen. – I’ll keep my eye on thing over the next few days.

TODAY: The contractors are filling in, there are no ducts, no cables, no services of any kind, so a complete waste of time and a waste of tax payers money.

Anyway job done and the first of hopefully many successes.
My thanks to Hannah, Emma, Katie and Dan and residents who signed the petition.
It might a good time to get your dropped kerbs in?

Best regards,
Jim.
